Triathlon/Multisport Team
The Team GEARGRINDER Multi-sport Squad is a subset of athletes within the Team GEARGRINDER Cycling Club who excel in triathlons and duathlons. Director Pat Peery and Manager John White along with all team members provide incredible race day support, a team identity and camaraderie for all members. Incentives are provided to those dedicated athletes who wish to maximize their talents and excel at competition. Team GEARGRINDER Multipsport Team also provides a solid support platform for student-athletes who show promise in the sport to develop their skills and ease the financial burden of participation.
In 2009, Team GEARGRINDER Multi-sport Squad boasted:
- 20 Ironman Finishers
- 7 Ironman World Championship Qualifiers
- 3 Ironman 70.3 World Championship Qualifiers
- 1 XTERRA Off-Road World Championship Qualifier
- 2 ITU Duathlon World Championship Qualifiers as members of Team USA
- 24 Total Race Wins by Team Members
- 60 Total Podium Places by Team Members
- 30 Total Age Group Wins by Team Members
Competing in more than 120 multi-sport races in 17 states in 2009, Team GEARGRINDER Multisport athletes finished in the Top 10 Overall in 20% of all races entered, in the Top 5 of Age Group in 60% of all races entered, and in Top 20% of the field in 97% of all races entered.
